Kaitlyn and her containers

Kaitlyn loves her food containers -- full or empty. As you can see by this picture, they make great chew toys. The lids and cups also work well to be beat together or to tap on other items, and they are soft plastic so they don't hurt anything. Basically, they are an all around great "toy."

On our way back from MI, I gave these to Kaitlyn to entertain her. When I got out at a rest stop I noticed that the lid was firmly placed on the cup. I thought to myself that it must have been luck that she got them to lock together. So, before getting on the road again I separated them and gave the "toy" back to her. About 10 minutes later she was crying and I looked back to see that she had dropped the cup. I reached back and much to my surprise the lid was again firmly in place. Now I was curious. I separated them again, handed them back, and watched in the rear view mirror as she banged them together for a minute and then very purposefully placed the lid on the cup. The lid was upside down so it wouldn't fit. She pulled them apart, looked at it for a second and then flipped the lid over and fastened them together. I was shocked. Now I am no expert in child advancement, but I am pretty sure that is well beyond a child who just turned 10 months old. So, I am convinced (as I am sure every mother is of their child) that she is a genius :)
